Background:
St John The Baptist is a Church of England controlled primary school catering for children from four to 11 years old. It is maintained by the education department of Hampshire county council and opened in 1990. The school has excellent accommodation facilities with a new building featuring a mall through its centre with the classrooms on one side and the extra facilities on the other. A large hall is used for physical education, assemblies and as a dining room with hot meals prepared on site. In addition the school also has a purpose-built music and drama room, a well-stocked fiction library and a new ICT suite. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. The school plays frequent inter-school matches in football and netball and have traditionally produces a strong cross-country team. Educational visits are also arranged to enhance the curriculum. The school believes that children learn best in a stable, supportive environment and therefore seek to establish within the school a caring community based on Christian values.
