Background:
Upham Church of England Aided Primary School was founded in 1814, the school moved to its present buildings in 1963. The very small school serves a largely rural village community. It is organised into three mixed age group classes with a reception group. Offers a 'very broad' curriculum with a wide range of extra-curricular activities such as theatre workshop, French, country dancing, football, tennis, cricket, netball and athletics. Every child has a weekly music lesson and many play recorder, flute, clarinet and violin, achieving 'excellent results' in examinations. All children have the opportunity to take part in educational visits to support their learning and residential visits are organised for Years 5 and 6. The school aims to create a safe, stimulating learning environment for all members of the school community.
