Background:
St Swithun Wells Catholic Primary School, Chandlers Ford, was established on Fryern Hill in 1972 to replace Holy Cross Primary School. There are separate hard-surface playgrounds for infants and juniors, a full-sized football pitch, grassed play areas with trees and shrubs, a wildlife area with a fenced pond and a garden. In addition to classrooms there is a computer suite, a music room, a library, a resources and club room, and an after-school club room. The school offers opportunities in football, netball, tag rugby, lacrosse and 'kwik-cricket'. Extra-curricular clubs include art, craft, music and chess. The school has been awarded Healthy Schools status.
