Background:
Oaklands Catholic School was a girls' independent grammar school with a small boarding element until 1971, when it became a local authority comprehensive. A building programme in 1973 led to a new sports hall, an art and technology block, and a mathematics and science block. Landscaping has created sports fields, while a modular building for the sixth-form was opened in 1992. A second modular building was built in 1993 to replace temporary classrooms and provide a base for Year 11, in addition to tutor rooms, a conference room and teaching rooms for history and geography.
