Primarily for students aged 16 to 19 living in Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey. Modern facilities; £12 million development recently completed. Performing arts suite includes college theatre, The Prospect Theatre, opened by Prince Edweard in 2000. Over-subscribed, with 1.2 applications per place. Most students take AS-levels and A-levels; college also offers a number of one-year courses, including pre-A-level course leading to Intermediate GNVQ. Inspectors graded 91 per cent of teaching and learning as good, very good or excellent. Extensive enrichment activities; work-experience, conferences, field work, lectures, theatre trips, foreign visits, travel scholarships, adventure weekends, sports teams, dance workshops, orchestra, big band, careers, and higher education conventions. College travel scholarship fund 'to assist students to participate in a wide range of projects involving foreign travel'. Over-subscribed, with 1.2 applications per place. Beacon status (2002); Investor in People status. Ethos: 'Lively, caring and purposeful; the atmosphere is relaxed, but the expectation is high.
