Background:

Founded in 1969 with Lord Louis Mountbatten as patron (now Lord Romsey) the school occupies a 40-acre site on the southern boundary of market town of Romsey. The heads of year are responsible for the pastoral system and there is a house system for competitions. The school is over-subscribed by up to 60 pupils a year. There are six main blocks, a sports hall and eight faculty areas, with 'excellent' specialist accommodation including that for science, sport, music and drama. Extra-curricular activities include drama, music, public-speaking. Pupils compete locally and regionally at cricket, football, gymnastics, trampolining, and have reached the national finals in basketball, tchoukball, technology and public-speaking. Combined specialist language college and sports college status. Charter mark; Artsmark Gold (2004); Sportsmark (2004); DfES achievement award (2001).
