Background:
South View Junior School was built in the 1950s and an extensive added in the 1960s. It is a spacious building with 10 separate classrooms and large, shared teaching areas. The school's facilities include a library, a large physical education hall, medical room and a carpeted music and drama room and computer suite. The school also has a large playing field surrounded by bushes and gardens. There is a playground, which is marked for a variety of games and activities, which also has a seating area around a central wooden stage. It also has a wooden ball wall, which is used for football skills and for throwing and catching games. There is a wide range of clubs which are held outside school hours usually after-school. Some of these clubs have included football, rugby, dance, hockey and netball. The school aims to provide an environment in which children learn, can be happy and feel secure.
