Background:

Rowner Junior School is a mixed junior school maintained by the Education Department of Hampshire County Council for children aged from seven to 11 years. The school is situated in a residential area on the outskirts of Gosport. It has eight classrooms. In the centre there is a large hall and leading from the hall, a computer suite and newly refurbished school library. The school is housed on two floors. All the classrooms are light and airy. At the eastern end of the building there is a music room and small resources room. The school has very large, attractive grounds, two large playing fields and two playgrounds bordered by shrubs and mature trees. The school offers instrumental lessons for violin, cello, trumpet, guitar, piano, keyboard and recorder. In addition the school offers various extra-curricular activities including computer club, netball, football and karate. Visits to places of interest are also arranged. The school aims to provide a happy, secure and purposeful environment that encourages children to develop a sense of ownership and pride.
