Background:
The building is 'spacious', with a semi-open plan designed and offers facilities for cookery, pottery, technology, music, art/craft, physical education and drama in addition to the usual classroom accomodation. Ranville's children have 'easy access' to learning resources. The school has audio and visual education aids and apparatus for physical education. Pupils can borrow books from the 'well-equipped' Learning Resources Library which has an 'excellent' range of books, as well as opportunities for research and study. There are 28 computers and 30 laptop wordprocessors. Ranville has held the Investors in People award since 1997 due to its emphasis on staff training. Other awards include Healthy Schools, Fareham Environmental School, and Education Extra (for extra-curricular activites). Their parental programme is described as 'strong'. A programme of visits and visitors to the school is to 'enrich' the education. 'Close' ties to the Southampton Mission are enhanced by charitable fundraising and support of the school community. The school is 'happy, energetic and innovative'.
