Background:
Marnel is a 'thriving' community school in the heart of a Basingstoke estate in an area known as Popley. Founded in 1971, the school shares the site with a 180-strong infants' school. Marnel Juniors is housed in building of SCOLA 2 design with the teaching block on two levels, and is set in extensive and pleasing grounds. The school 'considers the whole child' and after-school clubs are important. Academic and sporting clubs are provided by staff and the sports teams do well in competitions. The school raises funds for school, community and national charities.
