Background:
Costello Technology College was founded in 1912. Originally it was the Basingstoke High School for girls one of the county's oldest and best-known grammar schools. In the 1970s the school became a mixed comprehensive. Most recently, the school has been designated as Specialist Technology College. The latest improvements in its facilities include a new specialist technology centre, refurbished science laboratories and specialist ICT rooms. The school has a wide range of after-school activities which are offered throughout the year including: exchange visits with Germany, annual ski trip, theatre trips, computer clubs, art gallery trips, paintballing and full range of sporting and musical activities. Every year sees a range of musical and drama events, often involving literally 100 of its students either performing or supporting backstage. The school aims to provide a conductive environment in which initiative and challenge can flourish.
