Background:

The school was established in 1906 by the Sisters of the La Sainte Union congregation, since when four new blocks have been added. It became grant-maintained in April 1994. The school is close to the city centre in a business, professional and residential area. Pupils come from all over south Hampshire to attend. In music, its choir has reached national finals as well as touring abroad. Pupils have also appeared nationally for public-speaking, science, physical education, art and design technology. The school's careers programme includes opportunities for work-experience and work-shadowing. The school prides itself on its all-round curriculum strength, but mathematics and science departments are regarded as particularly strong, enabling girls to go on to careers in medicine, engineering and veterinary science.
