Background:

The school ws built in 1870 and extensions were added in 1876 and 1995. Two classes are housed in the main building with a third in a temporary classroom, while extensive grounds offer a football pitch, netball court, long-jump pit, climbing frames and three ponds. Extra-curricular clubs allow pupils to enjoy football, netball and other sports, computers, art, French and choir, and there is peripatetic teaching of brass. Visits to church are organised at Easter and Harvest, the vicar leads collective worship once a week and all children are taught RE. Support for children with special educational needs (SEN) includes teaching assistants in each class. There are strong links with other schools in the area through the Association of Test Valley Schools. The school won the area cricket and rounders tournaments in 2000. Years 5 and 6 benefit from a swimming programme and a biannual residential week. Lockerley primary is particularly proud of its 'strong tradition of charitable giving'.
