Background:
Uplands Primary School was opened in 1962, the school is going through the final stages of a £1 million rebuild and refurbishment. It now offers a new library, music and ICT facilities, including a state-of-the-art 72-point ICT network. The philosophy of the school is to offer the best of both worlds by combining traditional high standards with the best of current primary practice. All pupils have at least one ICT lesson in the main suite each week and follow-up curriculum work on the other machines. It uses three interactive whiteboards in school and it has other digital equipment in each section of the school, including scanners and digital cameras. It has developed a purpose-built music room and offers an extensive range of tuition for a variety of instruments through Hampshire music service and its own specialist teacher. The school offers a variety of sports including football, athletics, cycling and cricket. The school aims to enable each child to strive to attain their potential in the personal, social, intellectual and physical aspects of school life.
