Background:

Westfield Junior School is situated on the western side of Paulsgrove, close to the Portchester boundary. The school has two large halls; one is used for physical education and related activities, with the other being used for its assemblies and productions. The information and communication technology suite has been recently refurbished and now has air conditioning enabling it to be used throughout the year. The library is a well-resourced attractive and spacious room that is looked after by one of the school's teaching assistants. The national curriculum divides subjects into two areas: core subjects (literacy, numeracy, science, information and communication technology and religious education) and foundation subjects (history, geography, art, music, physical education, technology, physical social and education and citizenship. The school has a wide range of extra-curricular activities including athletics, swimming, rugby, netball, dance, hockey and choir. The school aims to provide opportunities for children to achieve full potential within the school.
