Background:
Opened in 1953, Hamble Primary is housed in a 'large, well-equipped' building set in 'extensive, varied' grounds. Facilities include a teaching swimming pool, which was refurbished in 2001. Many children belong to extra-curricular clubs which include cross-country, benchball, football, chess and choir. Pupils are 'encouraged to take responsibility for themselves and their actions' and contribute to school development through the school council. The 'active and enthusiastic' Friends of the School organsie social and fundraising events, their current goal being to provide an ICT suite. 'The school prides itself on meeting the needs of the individual, developing the academic, creative and sporting potential of every child'.
