Background:
Castle Primary is a large school situated in Portchester, on the M27 corridor between Fareham and Portsmouth. The school building is large and well maintained and set in very attractive grounds. It has a well-equipped ICT suite. The school has a large field which it is continually developing to offer a conservation area. Each term a variety of clubs are organised which includes gymnastics, guitar, choir, band, recorders, netball, football, cycling proficiency, cricket, hockey, drama, outdoor games and chess. In June 2000 the school has awarded an Activemark by Sport England, which was in recognition of the quality of its sporting provision. In May 2003 it has awarded an Artsmark Silver from the Arts Council as recognition of the quality of its provision for the arts, ranging from music to art and design and from drama to dance. The school has also received an Achievement Award for 2001/2002 from the government to celebrate its improving academic standards. The school aims to develop a secure, happy and stimulating environment where respect and trust are fostered between all members of the school community.
