Background:
Westfields Junior School was opened in January 1967 as an eight-classroom school. It has recently undergone a major refurbishment programme. The school's site is shared with a nursery, infant and comprehensive school. The campus has its own 7,000 books library, community centre and a variety of sports and leisure facilities, including a heated indoor swimming pool. Governors, children and parents encourage involvement in a range of local groups and activities such as the choral society, the local orchestra, churches of all denominations and sporting societies. It has an excellent reputation for music and the arts, with a school orchestra, choir and an annual drama production. All Year 6 children have the opportunity to take part in an outdoor pursuits week where team building skills are nurtured alongside sporting activities. The school aims to value and respect the uniqueness of individuals and fosters a sense of personal worth and consideration for others.
