Background:

The Toynbee School is an 11-16 comprehensive school serving parts of Chandler's Ford, Eastleigh and adjacent areas. The present Toynbee School was opened in 1977. It is pleasant brick building with excellent specialist accommodation, including 9 science laboratories and a well-equipped design and technology area. The school is very proud of its achievements in music and drama. It has flourishing choirs, swing band and orchestra, which are greatly in demand to entertain groups outside the school. The range of activities is very wide indeed. Toynbee is a specialist sports college. Its aim to achieve a range of targets to provide high quality lessons in PE and sport. It has nine science laboratories, language rooms, a theatre and dance studio. It has two music rooms and practice areas with a large sports hall and recently opened new changing and storage facilities.
