Background:
Stamshaw Junior School caters for children seven to 11 years, is a non-denominational school and is maintained by Portsmouth city council. It was built in 1986 as an Infant school. In 1998/99 the school was extended and altered to become a junior school. The school has playing fields and three playgrounds. It benefits from 12 classrooms, a music room, hall, art room, community room, a well-equipped library and two information and communication technology suites containing 20 personal computers. It is currently working to achieve the Healthy School Award. The school participates in the Portsmouth music festival. It has strong links with the infant school which ensures continuity and a smooth transfer at seven years. The school aims to provide a safe, happy, caring and supportive environment in which each individual feels valued and in which all achievement is celebrated.
