Background:
Beaumont school opened in 1974 on the site of the old cavalry barracks and children came mainly from the closed West End Junior School. It serves an urban area and is set within 'picturesque' grounds. The school building provides an 'attractive and stimulating learning environment' within a 'well-designed' layout. A 'wide' range of very good resources including a 'well-stocked' library help maintain the quality of teaching. The staff work 'very hard' to ensure a 'good standard' of educational provision and to promote the school's 'extremely positive ethos'. Extra-curricular activities in music and sport further teaching, and teams compete 'successfully' in local competitions in soccer and cricket. Beaumont aims, in partnership with parents, to help pupils to 'appreciate human achievements and aspirations' and to equip pupils with skills relevant to their lives.
