Background:

Founded in 1872; moved into new premises on pleasant open site on outskirts of villages of Hook and Warsash in 1979; permanent extensions added in 1989 and 1994; school now offers mixture of open-plan and separate classrooms. Extensive grounds offer playing fields, environmental studies area and adventure playground. Serves pupils from local villages and further afield; over-subscribed, with 1.2 applications per place. School 'excels in all areas of sport' and competes at county and national levels. Also proud of 'very strong musical tradition'; annual musical production at a theatre in Fareham; pupils have performed in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the the London Palladium; choir performs regularly at community events. In 2005 and 2006, children raised funds for charities such as the RSPCA, Save the Children and Christian Aid; charity CD made to support the tsunami appeal raised more than £2,000.
